Biosketch:
Barbara C Phillips is the Founder and CEO of Nurse Practitioner Business Owner (NPBO™) which provides business and marketing education, resources and support for Nurse Practitioners and other clinicians who wish to start and grow their own business or practice.
Ms. Phillips has been a nurse practitioner since 1988 and is certified both as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (GNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). She obtained a Master of Nursing from the University of Washington in Seattle.
Over the years, Barbara developed a special interest in business and entrepreneurship. After opening her own practice she received an overwhelming number of requests from NP colleagues asking how they could create a similar successful practice.
Barbara has presented at the annual conferences for the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, The American College of Nurse Practitioners, The Gerontological Advance Practice Nurse Association, The Nurse Practitioners of Oregon and the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners & Nurse Midwives on topics related to starting and growing a practice; social media and marketing for professionals.
Ms Phillips has coached hundreds of Nurse Practitioners on the path to entrepreneurship. Additionally she has been published in various journals, blogs and has been interviewed on ReachMD. Her e-newsletter, ProgressNotes: Business Tips for Entrepreneurial Clinicians, is published twice a month reaches thousands of subscribers.
